Manifest Nuclear Innovation Conference

"In 1990 one-third of Europe's electricity came from nuclear, today it is only close to 15%. This reduction in the share of nuclear was a choice, I believe that it was a strategic mistake for Europe to turn its back on a reliable, affordable source of low-emissions power."

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen spoke these words during her speech at the Nuclear Energy Summit (March 10, 2026) in Paris. Once again proving that nuclear energy is an essential part of the energy mix to realize the security of energy supply and deliver on climate goals in the coming decades. Long Term Operation of the current reactor fleet, in combination with the deployment of current and future reactor designs, will be required to meet societal needs.

Additionally, with the rise of SMRs, more industries are turning towards nuclear power to fulfil their energy demand. Delivering on the promise of nuclear energy requires stronger collaboration and faster exchange of innovation across the global nuclear community.

The Nuclear Innovation Conference 2026 (NIC2026) convenes the people and organisations shaping the future of nuclear energy to connect expertise, accelerate innovation, and turn ambition into action.
