Team

Joost van den Broek

After receiving his Master in Mechanical Engineering, Joost started working in the Natural Gas sector. In 2009, he joined NRG as manager of the Safety and Licensing department. He is currently Director of NRG Consultancy & Services (C&S). In addition, Joost is responsible for the execution of the Dutch Nuclear Energy Research programme, steering committee member of the EUR Association, Member of the NRG Historical Waste Management Board and NRG|Pallas representative for the European Industrial Alliance on SMRs. Joost is initiator of the Nuclear Innovation Conference and track leader of the New Build track.

At the Nuclear Innovation Conference, Joost will act as moderator of Newbuild session presentations and panel session. He is looking forward to meeting and linking professionals in the Newbuild area, reinforcing existing connections and making new contacts in the Newbuild network.

Britta Bor

Britta Bor holds a Master’s degree in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology, where she specialised in nuclear technology. She started her career at NRG PALLAS as a Nuclear Technology Trainee and currently works as a Research Consultant, supporting projects related to nuclear innovation and the future deployment of nuclear technologies.

Britta is particularly interested in connecting people, knowledge and organisations to help advance the nuclear sector. Her background combines a strong technical foundation with a broad interest in the societal role of nuclear energy.

At the Nuclear Innovation Conference, Britta fulfils the role of Programme Manager. She looks forward to bringing together experts from across the nuclear ecosystem and facilitating discussions that help turn ambition into implementation.

Frederic Blom

Ph.D. graduated at University of Twente (Netherlands) in Mechanical Engineering. He obtained his Ph.D. at EPF-Lausanne in Switzerland. He works at NRG PALLAS since 2002 and launched the development of TULIP LTO. Since 2006 many LTO programs have been developed using TULIP LTO, starting with the successful LTO demonstration for Borssele NPP in The Netherlands. Then contributions have been provided to the LTO programs in Sweden, Finland, Argentina, Spain, South Africa and Japan.

Currently, he is managing the Nuclear Compliance and Projects cluster, which has a key role in licensing of all Dutch nuclear installations.

Marieke van Gemert

Marieke van Gemert has built a solid career in the nuclear industry. In her early years at NRG PALLAS, she was the team lead of the Nuclear Safety and Licensing group and became the go-to contact for the Dutch nuclear sector when exploring LTO discussion or major facility modifications.

After a decade dedicated to safety and licensing, Mrs. van Gemert embraced a new challenge as Manager of Decommissioning and Services. In this role, she was responsible for acquiring and managing several large, multi-year framework contracts in waste characterisation for German and Belgian NPPs.

Today, she focuses on nuclear new build projects, supporting Dutch authorities in assessing and developing new nuclear facilities.

Tim van Lunteren

Tim van Lunteren received his MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Brunel University London. He began his career in the automotive industry but transitioned to the nuclear industry six years ago. Since then, he has focused on material and fuel qualification projects at the High Flux Reactor in Petten, NRG PALLAS.

These projects provide high-quality data on materials and fuels to global customers, supporting their ongoing developments in new nuclear solutions. Currently, he manages the Fuel Irradiations Technology team at NRG PALLAS.

Sannah van Balen

Sannah van Balen is a Doctoral Candidate at the Cambridge University Engineering Department. Her research investigates challenges of regulatory harmonisation and technology standardisation. In particular, she interrogates the implementation of international radiological protection principles within nuclear licensing.

At the NIC she will act as Master of Ceremonies. She is particularly excited to witness the fruitful collaborations that result from this event.

Rob Stegehuis

The art of communication is to tell stories that stick. Preferable, to Rob's opinion, because they have meaning to the ones receiving them. That’s why he likes working in the nuclear industry. He’s committed to contribute to the NIC, because there are so many interesting stories to share. And even so many engaged and interested people to share them with.

Born in a small village in the countryside of the Netherlands, he studied Communication in Utrecht. With a continuing interest in traveling and learning about different cultures, he founded his family (3 boys!) at his roots. With over a decade of communication expertise, he recently published his first book about communication, personal and organizational development.

During the Nuclear Innovation Conference you will probably seem him talking to journalists, photographers, cinematographers and working on his phone and laptop. Always an eye on the stories that are needed to be shared. And if you have one of those stories, don’t hesitate to reach out to him!

Job van Duivenbode

Job van Duivenbode is a Consultant at NRG PALLAS, working on projects related to nuclear new build, safety and licensing. His work spans both the strategic development of nuclear technologies and the practical challenges of operating and licensing nuclear facilities.

After contributing to projects focused on the deployment of nuclear energy and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), Job is currently involved in Long-Term Operation (LTO) activities supporting the lifetime extension of the Borssele nuclear power plant. Through this work, he is developing expertise at the intersection of technology, regulation and implementation.

At NIC2026, Job looks forward to engaging with organisations from across the nuclear ecosystem and facilitating new connections between industry, technology developers and other stakeholders shaping the future of nuclear energy.
